I've posted one of my comments below from a Second Amendment debate I had with someone who attempted to defend the insurrectionist theory utilized by pro-gun facets of society concerning the Second Amendment.

It is you who seem to be ignorant of the Constitution of the United States of America. The pro-gun facet insurrectionist theory is a deception and has been refuted with factual evidence. You cannot refute the truth so you scramble, which is what pro-gun facets of society do when they cannot refute the truth. The Articles of Confederation, which was the first government of the United States in case you did not know...was a weak national government that did not provide for any military defense mechanisms such as an army or navy. The Articles of Confederation was weak because the colonists did not want a national government that was too powerful due to their experiences with King George III. Shays' Rebellion was an insurrection in case you did not know...that occurred under the Articles of Confederation and was what prompted the framers to look for a way to change the national government and make it better. Security and defense would become something the framers would address in-depth in the Constitution of the United States of America which they did excellently. The framers addressed the subject of security and defense concerning a well-regulated militia in Article 1 Section 8 Article 2 Section 2 and the Second Amendment.

If you fail to see the contradiction in your insurrectionist interpretation of the Second Amendment you are blind. The militia was utilized to suppress various insurrections and you cannot deny this historical fact. The states were included in the militia process as outlined in Article 1 Section 8 which clearly states the Congress shall have power:

“To provide for the calling forth of the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions; To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress.”

The appointment of the officers and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress were reserved to the states respectively as the states were undoubtedly included in the militia process and state militias definitely suppressed insurrections and you cannot deny this historical fact.

When pro-gun facets of society speak insurrection their words undoubtedly support treason. Constitutional provisions for suppressing insurrections apply to each state in the union and are clearly outlined in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution and the Second Amendment which states:

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”

State provisions for a well-regulated militia are clearly outlined in the Second Amendment which is clearly supported by Article 1 Section 8 (The Militia Clause) of the Constitution of the United States of America and you cannot deny this historical fact.

Do you understand the meaning of the word insurrection? Shays’ Rebellion was an insurrection that prompted the framing of the Constitution of the United States and this insurrection was suppressed by a state militia led by Benjamin Lincoln. James Madison who was a nationalist, proposed 19 amendments of which 10 were accepted by Congress and ratified by the states. The “Whiskey Rebellion” insurrection occurred AFTER the Second Amendment was adopted and this insurrection was suppressed by President George Washington through 12,000 federalized militiamen. President George Washington had the constitutional authority of Article 1 Section 8 Article 2 Section 2 and the Second Amendment when he suppressed the “Whiskey Rebellion” insurrection.

When you attempt to defend the insurrectionist theory of pro-gun facets of society do you know the insurrectionist approach undoubtedly supports treason and one of the purposes of a well-regulated militia is to “SUPPRESS INSURRECTIONS.” The Second Amendment is not for promoting insurrections as stated by pro-gun facets of society, the Second Amendment is for suppressing insurrections along with executing the laws of the Union and repelling invasions as outlined in Article 1 Section 8. The insurrectionist mindset of pro-gun facets of society undoubtedly place them into the category of past insurrectionists such as insurrectionists in Shays’ Rebellion which occurred BEFORE the Constitution of the United States of America was framed and insurrectionists in the Whiskey Rebellion which occurred AFTER the Second Amendment was adopted. Need I remind you that BOTH insurrections were suppressed by government as Shays’ Rebellion was suppressed by a state militia led by Benjamin Lincoln and the Whiskey Rebellion was suppressed by President George Washington through 12,000 federalized militiamen. President George Washington had the constitutional authority of Article 1 Section 8 Article 2 Section 2 and the Second Amendment when he suppressed the “Whiskey Rebellion” insurrection.

Do you understand the meaning of treason? If you don’t I suggest you rethink the insurrectionist deceptive interpretation of the Second Amendment that has been utilized by pro-gun facets of society to deceive the American people for years. If pro-gun facets of society levy war against the United States they will be doing a FOOLISH thing as history has proven in past insurrections such as the Whiskey Rebellion insurrection that was suppressed by the United States government under the leadership of President George Washington AFTER the Second Amendment was adopted. I also suggest you read Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution of the United States of America which states:

“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the person attainted.”

The insurrectionist interpretation of the Second Amendment by pro-gun facets of society is clearly contradictory and their insurrectionist approach of rising up against the United States government with arms undoubtedly supports treason as the consequence of “levying war” against the United States is clearly addressed in Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution of the United States of America. Pro-gun facets of society who choose the insurrectionist route and levy war against the United States have consequences to look forward to that are clearly outlined in Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution of the United States of America and history has shown what will happen to insurrectionists. Need I remind you to remember Shays’ Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion.

The government of the United States of America does not consist of monarchical rule in which a dictator would rule in a totalitarian system as the government of the United States is a government of the people by the people and for the people as President Abraham Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg Address. Governor James Bowdoin of Massachusetts was correct when he informed the participants in Shays’ Rebellion that resistance to a government under monarchical rule was acceptable but resistance to a government elected by the people was unacceptable. The democratic process is the way to affect change and violence is not the answer in a democracy. After Shays’ Rebellion followers of Daniel Shays came to see the truth of democracy and they utilized it and as a result some of Shays’ followers won seats in the state assembly and were ultimately successful in passing a state law… and this happened BEFORE the Constitution of the United States of America came into existence. The insurrectionist theory of pro-gun facets of society is a deception and history has proven this. If you are an insurrectionist and you want to practice insurrectionism go live in a totalitarian system under monarchical rule and practice your insurrectionism there because the United States of America is a democracy and violence is not the answer in a democracy. Many people have utilized the political process to affect change by voting likeminded people into office and other methods have also been utilized and none of these methods include violence. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has proven that non-violence can be utilized to affect change in the United States of America and this historical fact cannot be denied.

A well-regulated militia is called forth to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions and this is the job of a well-regulated militia according to the Constitution of the United States of America. In today’s society who has the job of executing the laws of the union, suppressing insurrections and repelling invasions? It is definitely NOT private citizens. Pro-gun facets of society have lied about the Second Amendment for years. The Second Amendment should be allowed to address what it is clearly intended to address which was and is a well-regulated militia. A Constitutional Amendment can be adopted by Congress to address the issue of private citizens and arms.
